In partnership with Garmin and Pirelli, the 2022 Gran Fondo Strade Bianche will offer an exciting new feature: on the last two gravel sectors, Colle Pinzuto and Le Tolfe, all participants will be timed.
Garmin will sponsor the Colle Pinzuto sector (#9), with two Varia Radars up for grabs for the fastest man and the fastest woman.
Pirelli will sponsor the Le Tolfe sector (#10), and branded materials will be awarded to the youngest and the oldest man and woman.
The challenge is open to all 6,000 participants, because these sectors feature on both the long and the medium route. Sign posts bearing the name of the relevant sponsor will mark the beginning and the end of the timed sectors.
Winners will be contacted by the race organiser, and the prize-giving ceremony will take place at the Expo Village inside the Fortezza Medicea.
At the end of the event, the time rankings will be available on the Gran Fondo website, and everyone may check their results, assess their performance, compare with their friends, rivals and team-mates… and consider trying again next year.
