The thrills of this cycling classic shared with the little ones

A new project is born, Strade Bianche Junior, designed to bring children closer to this amazing race and, more generally, to the values of sport and cycling, while also dealing with road and environmental education topics.

The event will welcome the little Future Legends of Strade Bianche and the sport of cycling and share with them some fun and highly educational experiences in the name of sport.

Pedala & ricicla (Cycle & Recycle)

Friday 1 March (from 13:00 to 19:00) and Saturday 2 March – The “edutainment” – educational entertainment – initiative is tailored for children between the ages of 5 and 12 and will feature two activities to be held at the Race Village in the Fortezza Medicea (Medici Fortress):

  • Road Safety Education (S.C. Pedale Senese ASD) – Bastione San Domenico of the Fortezza Medicea
  • Environmental Education (Sei Toscana) – entrance of the Fortezza Medicea

Children will have the opportunity to participate, with their own bicycles or those provided by the organisation, in a skills course equipped with road signs and learn the basic rules for safe cycling together with the Pedale Senese instructors. They will also have the chance to join in the activities proposed by Sei Toscana, which will focus on themes such as recycling and differentiated waste collection.

Saturday 2 March – The first gathering of the new cycling season for all Tuscan FCI Giovanissimi category members (children from 5 to 12 years).

Participants will be engaged in a group ride on the initial and final sections of the Strade Bianche route, starting and finishing in the Fortress and crossing the finish line in Piazza del Campo, a total of 4 km. A small refreshment will be offered to all participants at the finish line.

  • Registration: K factor (ID 171195 – cicloturistica) – registration closes February 28, 2024
  • Meeting point and licence verification: from 8:30 to 11:00 at Giardini La Lizza (angolo viale Rinaldo Franci – via Cesare Maccari)
  • Technical briefing: from 11:30 at the meeting point
  • Start:at 12:00 from viale Guglielmo Marconi (inside Fortezza Medicea – San Domenico side)
  • Finish:around 13:00 at Giardini La Lizza (viale Rinaldo Franci – via Cesare Maccari corner)
